Job Reports To: Sales & Estimating Office Manager
Location: West Midlands
Job Purpose:
1. Create & prepare estimates for customer enquiries
2. Follow up on quotations to generate orders
3. Provide expert guidance internally and externally on technical and commercial queries
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Working from details provided with enquiries, generate a concept design / material take off schedule, complying with relevant specifications and standards that is sufficient to enable an estimate to be completed.
2. Using company tools, process the quotation to generate a quotation value.
3. Using company templates, produce a detailed descriptive quotation and issue to the customer.
4. Update company systems with all quotation activity, such that systems remain live at all times.
5. Where appropriate, and as directed by the Sales & Estimating Office Manager, follow up quotations via email and telephone and update relevant systems with the status.
6. Where requested, attend on and off site meetings or virtual meetings with the customer to ensure the timely progress of enquiries and ensuring the best possible chance of success in securing these.
7. Review commercial and contractual documentation and negotiate terms in line with company policy.
8. On receipt of an order, raise project folder and all other necessary paperwork, or work with Sales & Estimating Administrator to ensure project folder and all other necessary paperwork is raised accordingly.
9. Provide expert guidance internally and externally on technical and commercial queries.
In addition to job responsibilities:
1. Assist in the general running of the office and supporting the rest of the Estimating team including general incoming and outgoing communication from the department.
2. Undertake necessary training as determined by the business.
3. Carry out additional tasks / reasonable requests as required by the business.
4. Support the development of Junior Estimators & Estimators.
5. Good time keeping, punctuality and levels of conduct are essential.
6. Communicate effectively with team members and other teams within the business.
Key Performance Indicators:
1. Time to process enquiries.
2. Qty & Value of Estimates completed & Orders won.
Qualifications/ Skills/ Knowledge / and Previous Experience Required:
1. General broad based engineering / fabrication background.
2. Demonstrable sales & estimating experience in a similar industry or sector.
3. Ability to read engineering drawings.
4. Strong PC skills.
5. Good interpersonal & telephone manner, confident speaking to & dealing with customers, suppliers & internal departments.
