ENT Consultant - subspecialist interest in Otology

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust has a cohesive and supportive ENT Department that manages the full range of ENT conditions in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.
This is a full-time (10PA) appointment, with the potential for less than full-time working to be accommodated. We are hoping to appoint an enthusiastic colleague who would complement our current collegiate atmosphere and bring the following expertise to the department.
Consultant Otologist
We are recruiting for a substantive post with a sub-specialist interest in Otology. The successful candidate would provide a subspecialist level of otology care within the department while also participating in general ENT services, including a general ENT on-call rota (1:6 covering Torbay only).
Main duties of the job
* To provide high-quality consultant-delivered care for General ENT across elective and emergency patients.
* To deliver clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are provided to all patients attending the hospital.
* To provide teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level and supervise and train the juniors and specialty doctors.
* To be proactive in the department's clinical governance agenda and take on leadership roles to support continuous learning and improvement.
* To liaise with clinicians and managers within and outside the department to address any issues arising that may affect the services.
Job responsibilities
* Communication and working relationships with nursing staff, management, consultant colleagues in ENT, junior medical staff, audiology department, and other medical and service departments within the Trust.
* Planning and organisation: To prioritise workload efficiently and safely on a daily basis.
* Responsibility and accountability: To provide high-quality consultant-delivered care to patients.
* Policy and service responsibility: To adhere to policies and guidelines of the Trust and participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes.
* Responsibility for finance, equipment, and other resources: Work constructively with the Associate Medical Director, Associate Director of Operations, and Operational Manager on budgetary issues.
* Information technology and administrative duties: To complete relevant medical records both paper and electronic as per policies and procedures.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration (with licence to practice).
* CCT Specialist Registration or will obtain within 6 months of interview date.
* Attainment of the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exam in ENT: FRCS-ORL(HNS) by interview.
* Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), IELTS or graduate of a UK Medical School.
* Other degrees, e.g. BSc, MSc, MD.
