Critical Data Centre M&E Engineer – Bath

Salary: £47,000
Hours: Continental Shift Pattern
Our client is a global data centre services organisation, steadily growing their presence, and has a requirement for multiple shift engineers to be based at a critical data centre facility in Bath. Working on a continental shift pattern, covering 12-hour days and nights, the role calls for experienced multi-skilled building services or data centre engineers to join and take responsibility for routine and reactive maintenance to electrical and mechanical systems in a highly critical environment. These sites are co-location, housing servers for blue chip, household name organisations, and it is vital they maintain 100% uptime.
Guideline salary is up to £47,000 basic, along with an annual bonus (based on total earnings including OT, not just salary). Combined with opportunities for overtime and training, this is an exceptional opportunity to join a market leader in a booming sector.
Duties:
* Operate all M&E systems within the Data Centre in a competent, effective, and efficient manner (including HV Electrical isolations/operations). Make recommendations for improvement and provide concise technical reports when required.
* Ensure that all Specialist Sub Contractors conduct works in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures.
* Carry out daily emergency callout tasks.
* Complete logbooks and RAMS.
* Able to apply a risk-focused maintenance approach and operations of plant and systems in data centres/critical environments.
* Ensure all critical client services, computer rooms, data networks, manufacturing, and revenue-earning services meet client requirements.
* Provide emergency response standby and call out. Escalate urgent issues. Respond to work interruptions, outages, or emergencies consistent with the SLA.
* Support critical environment-related technical audits as required and directed by the line manager.
* Complete records and logs required to demonstrate delivery of maintenance requirements.
* Control and supervise contractors when required.
* Conduct emergency lighting testing.
* Perform all electrical work including lighting, wiring, testing, alarm systems, BMS, lighting systems, and heat exchangers.
* Engineers must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of AHU, FCU, UPS, Generators, and LV systems, including the ability to fault find.
* Evaluate and escalate any potential risks, with an assessment of impact, probable causes, and mitigation opportunities.
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policy and procedures.
* Support the Data Centre Shift Leader in the day-to-day operational delivery of all planned, reactive, corrective, and project-related works.
Requirements:
* Trade trained with ideally 3 years’ experience in building services.
* City & Guilds Qualified Electrical Level 3.
* Experience in critical sites (Data Centre or Banking Sites).
* Good building services knowledge.
* Ability to lead a team under pressure, while remaining calm, clear-thinking, and able to deliver the required services to the client within given time constraints.
* Individuals who can demonstrate commitment and previous experience but do not meet all the required technical qualifications may be considered subject to Directors' approval.
* Demonstrate a willingness to attend on and off-site training for plant and systems, which may require nights away from home.
