Underwriter (Marine Trade) – Hybrid in Brighton – ARD1050347
We are on the hunt for a talented Underwriter to join our Marine Trade team and contribute to the ongoing development here at Geo as part of our Navigators & General team. You will be joining a highly successful team and leading brand and regarded as specialists across the marine insurance sector, providing you with a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact and develop your career as a marine trade specialist underwriter.
This is a home based role which will require monthly travel to our office in Brighton.
As an Underwriter in our Marine Trade team, you’ll be analysing and underwriting new and existing business and interacting with brokers in our specialist market every day. You will work as part of a diverse team in a specialist and fast-paced environment.
What you will do here as an Underwriter:
* Quote and set coverage, negotiate terms and conditions on Marine Trade New Business, Mid Term Adjustment and Renewals.
* Underwrite in accordance with underwriting licenses and approval matrix.
* Deliver against underwriting & financial measures as outlined in the N&G plan.
* Build and maintain relationships with brokers, by listening, understanding, and meeting customer needs to support onboarding new business and retaining existing customers through delivering excellent service.
* Provide administration support to ensure timely processing of policy transactions.
* Support Navigators & General’s culture by demonstrating trading and negotiation behaviours.
* Resolve technical problems by referring to policies, procedures, specifications and on short-term, defined scope projects.
* Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines and insurance laws and regulations.
What are we looking for in our next Underwriter:
* Ideally CII qualified or working towards.
* Proven underwriting experience is desirable.
* A passion for the marine insurance industry.
* Experience of working within an insurer, Broker Coverholder or MGA environment.
* An understanding of the use of binding authority guidelines and authorities would be advantageous.
* A working knowledge of legal and regulatory Insurance framework.
* Understanding of relationship building, active listening, and win-win negotiating.
* IT Skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
