Reporting to the Design Lead, the Tool Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing press tool and fixture designs, and implementing improvements to manufacturing and assembly processes.

Description
The Press Tool Design Engineer will:
1. Perform mechanical design for new projects, turning concepts into cost-effective press tool designs.
2. Design single, multi-stage, and progression press tooling.
3. Engage in subcontractor and supplier liaison.
4. Investigate and undertake analysis on how to improve existing press tooling or components.
5. Prepare design solutions including CAD models, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and related documentation. Dimension and geometrically tolerance part drawings to (BS 8888).
6. Perform essential material stress-strain analysis calculations and DFMEA/PFMEA analysis.
7. Plan effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time, to standard, and to budget.
8. Evaluate manufacturing processes, researching and developing solutions to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, waste, and scrap.
9. Ensure consistent repeatable processes and product quality.
10. Provide manufacturing support and information for all processes.
11. Generate and maintain product and process data and training.
12. Work and coordinate with members of the Design & Technical team.
Profile
Minimum requirements include:
1. Recent experience, at least 3+ years in a Press Tooling Design Engineer role.
2. Degree/HND/HNC in a related field (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering).
3. Proficient user of CREO or SOLIDWORKS 3D (CREO Parametric).
4. Able to design pneumatic circuit schematics.
5. Knowledge and experience of material selection.
6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products.
