Registered Veterinary Nurse - Near Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
• Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
• Hours: 40 hours per week over 4 days a week (8am until 6.30pm with a half hour unpaid lunch break) 1:6 Weekends
• OOH: one, regular night on-call per week (from 6pm until 10pm plus one weekend in six on-call (Friday 6pm until 10pm, Saturday 7am until 10pm, Sunday 7am until 10pm)
• Salary: Salary dependent on experience, responsibilities and qualifications

Role and Responsibilities:
1. Provide Compassionate Patient Care: Deliver attentive and empathetic care to animals during routine exams, treatments, and recovery, ensuring comfort and monitoring vital signs.
2. Assist in Surgical Procedures: Support veterinarians during surgeries by preparing the theatre, monitoring anaesthesia, and providing post-operative care.
3. Perform Diagnostic Tests: Conduct blood tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures, interpreting results under the guidance of a veterinarian.
4. Administer Medications and Treatments: Dispense and administer prescribed medications, treatments, and vaccinations, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
5. Conduct Client Consultations: Offer guidance to pet owners on preventative care, nutrition, and general health, answering questions and providing follow-up care instructions.
6. Manage In-Patient Admissions and Discharges: Oversee the admission and discharge of patients, ensuring all information is recorded accurately and relayed effectively to the pet owner.

6. Remuneration for OOH- On call retainer of £600 per annum
7. Call-out fee of £25 should the RVN be called out, out of hours
8. £18.45 per hour (pro rata for part of an hour) for out of hours work carried out between the end of your shift and 10pm
9. Mileage will be paid for travelling to and from the surgery for work carried out, out of hours, at 45 pence per mile
10. Holiday allowance - 5 weeks plus bank holidays (pro rata)
11. CPD allowance of £300 per annum. CPD is encouraged and supported with additional pay allowed.

14. Holiday and sickness cover may be required at other branches
