Do you want to be part of a business that says 'No' to fossil fuel projects? Can you take responsibility for safety management? Are you experienced in offshore wind projects? Then, this is the place to create the solutions the world needs today to enable a better tomorrow.
Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow
To provide industry-leading health and safety advice to our clients and project delivery teams, we are looking for an Offshore Wind Health & Safety Consultant to join us. Working on offshore wind projects, you'll take responsibility for safety management, including foundation designs, OSS topsides design, landfall design, etc.
Your key responsibilities will be:
1. Prepare for and chair safety workshops (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, DRA) to meet COWI and our clients' safety requirements and processes.
2. Implement best practices in the offshore wind industry on our projects.
3. Continuously evaluate and develop our COWI approach to safety management in offshore wind.
4. Ensure industry lessons are learned and implemented on our designs.
5. Work with our H&S team to support HSW across the wider business.
6. Monitor project activity for compliance with H&S legislation, client standards, and management systems and procedures, and raise concerns as required.
7. Deliver Health & Safety training to project staff as required, to ensure a sound understanding of the principles, regulations, and relevant processes.
8. Support our project and office locations - HSE Planning, Risk Assessment, and Safe Systems of Work.
9. Support the review and assessment of competency (skills, knowledge, experience, and organizational capability) of external designers, consultants, and contractors being considered for appointment on the project.
10. Report findings to the COWI UK Senior Leadership Team where concerns arise or where improvements should be made to current procedures to improve HSW.
11. Undertake site audits and inspections.
12. Promote best practices in all elements of Health, Safety & Wellbeing both internally and externally.
Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.
On top of that, you'll have:
1. Experience working within a HSE team, ideally in the offshore wind or closely related (e.g., offshore oil and gas) sectors.
2. A knowledge of Health and Safety in Construction and a relevant qualification, such as NEBOSH Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
3. HSE Chartership or, at a minimum, have a Cert. IOSH level or similar accreditation and be working towards full chartership.
4. Sound knowledge of UK national H&S legislation; international experience would be beneficial.
5. Fully conversant with offshore wind safety legislation and best practices, e.g., National and International standards such as ISO 14122 and BS EN 50308, G+, EU-OSHA.
6. The ability to influence teams to adopt the highest Health, Safety & Wellbeing standards.
7. A clear understanding of how health and safety is monitored through the design process to construction, maintenance, end use, and demolition.
8. Experience of facilitating HAZID/HAZOP/DRA workshops.
9. An enthusiastic presence in external HSW forum groups and professional organizations.
10. Experience of the audit process and the ability to identify and express areas of concern.
11. The ability to demonstrate management and coordination skills to motivate and influence internal and external teams.
12. Good English communication skills, including writing, proofing, and editing with an eye for detail.
