You will be working for a local council in their design team.
Your new role
In this role, you will be completing bridge assessments, inspections, and the design of refurbishment schemes.
As part of this role, you should expect to:
1. Assist with the collection, assessment, and imparting of information that is essential to the successful scheme preparation and implementation process, including liaison with outside bodies and contractors.
2. Prepare or assist in the preparation of technical design and contract documents to ensure the implementation of structural design projects and improvements within published programmes and budget estimates for the purpose of assessment and monitoring.
3. Liaise with relevant bodies (i.e. contractors, public utilities, and the like) to include within design duties and programmes, as required.
4. Work with due regard to the health and safety of themselves and others at all times, addressing issues related to sustainability in their own working practices and encouraging and influencing others on policies and practices of equality of opportunities.
Hybrid working
What you'll need to succeed
* Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers.
* RQF Level 4-7 in a relevant Engineering field.
* Specific working knowledge in the design and construction of bridges and other highway structures and design codes (British Standards, DMRB Standards).
* Experience in the management of bridges and other highway structures projects, and supervision of construction projects.
* Working knowledge of Eurocodes.
* Experienced user of Finite Element and Grillage software packages, e.g. LUSAS and ENCAD.
* Experienced in undertaking bridge inspections in accordance with the Inspection Manual for Highway Structures.
