Responsible for turning data into business insights. Using a variety of analysis techniques and big data, you’ll apply mathematical thinking to solve real-world problems across the airport. You’ll partner closely with a team of analysts and operational performance leads to understand business needs and build robust solutions. Your aim is to equip decision makers with the most confident information as effectively and efficiently as possible, positioning the business for excellent customer service.
You’ll leverage a variety of analytical skills and operational research techniques such as queueing theory, optimisation, simulation, or data envelopment analysis to inform your models. You’ll lead on process investigations to understand business problems, interrogate data and survey results to measure business performance, and use statistics and probability to provide your best advice on operational challenges.
What you’ll be doing
* Collaborate with analysts, performance leads, and cross functional business stakeholders to study and model operational processes and identify opportunities for efficiency and to make smarter decisions.
* Responsible for deriving long and short-term demand forecasts, flight schedules, and predictive analytics across operational areas of the airport, leveraging data science techniques such as machine learning, regression, and simulation.
* Source, identify, test, tidy, and optimise datasets for straightforward use across platforms. Investigate data discrepancies to improve data quality. Transform large datasets into accessible insights that simplify business decision making.
* Develop data visualizations, dashboards, and reporting in Tableau (or a similar tool). Troubleshoot and resolve any reporting and dashboarding issues.
* Ensure performance managers and business owners have access to the most accurate information.
* Conduct exploratory and diagnostic data analysis, establish KPIs, and provide descriptive analytics of past trends.
* Simply and concisely present results and recommendations to business stakeholders and executive leaders (both written and verbal).
* Support the business and executive team with ad-hoc and bespoke analysis.

Credentials and Experience
* Essential: This role requires the successful candidate to obtain a Counter Terrorist Check, so you must have been living in the UK for the last 3 consecutive years.
* Essential: Degree with a strong STEM focus such as Data Science, Airport Planning, Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
* Essential: Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
* Essential: Experience in a data science programming language such as R, Python, SQL.
* Essential: Highly numeric with proven analytical and problem solving skills. Understanding and experience with a range of statistical techniques such as queueing theory, simulation, or optimisation.
* Desirable: Experience with dashboarding software such as Tableau.
