The Role - Mental Health Assistant As a Mental Health Assistant, your role will focus on supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them build resilience and coping strategies. Key responsibilities include: Providing 1:1 and group support for students with mental health challenges. Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to create tailored interventions. Delivering mindfulness and well-being sessions to foster emotional growth. Identifying early signs of mental health concerns and implementing appropriate strategies. Supporting positive behaviour management through evidence-based techniques. Developing trusting relationships with students, acting as a key source of support. Contributing to individualized learning and pastoral support plans.What We're Looking For We are seeking a compassionate and skilled individual who: Has experience supporting children or young people with mental health challenges or special educational needs (experience in educational or care settings is desirable). Is emotionally resilient, empathetic, and passionate about mental health and education. Has knowledge of mental health conditions and interventions (training or qualifications in mental health or SEN are a bonus). Excels at building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues. Is confident in managing challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement strategies.
