Milton Keynes College Prison Services Team at HMP Send is seeking innovative Teachers to deliver to a diverse group of learners, helping to build their confidence, develop their skills, and achieve within a college environment. The College is looking for candidates interested in variable hours, on an ad-hoc basis, who are keen to explore Prison Education.
A teaching qualification would be desirable; however, those willing to work towards a teaching qualification, who hold supporting subject specialism or industry experience, would also be considered - we can provide the training to help you achieve your full potential.

ABOUT HMP Send
HMP Send is a closed female establishment for sentenced prisoners with provision for ROTL & resettlement. It has a maximum operational capacity of 251.
HMP Send’s focus is firmly fixed on reducing reoffending and rehabilitation by preparing offenders for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational based training, and education.
The Education Department comprises a dedicated building with learning space for a maximum of 48 learners per session with all rooms in use, three workshop areas for Hair, Business Administration, and Catering for vocational training.
Courses at HMP Send include Maths, English, IT, Art, Assertiveness, Literature, ESOL, Peer Mentoring, 1:2:1 Learning Support, Food Safety, Book Club, Distance Learning, and Open University, then Vocational courses in Business Admin, Catering, Customer Services, and Hairdressing.
Most courses delivered are accredited through the City and Guilds awarding body.
The Education team consists of 12 members of staff with a Manager and Deputy included in this; it is a small but professional team.
The education delivery hours are Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 11:45am, 1:30pm – 4:00pm and on Fridays 8:30am – 11:45am, with staff working on-site 8:15am – 4:45pm each day and 8:15am – 1:15pm on Fridays. Class sizes typically range from 4-8 learners.
There is an on-site gym that can be used by staff at lunchtime with no additional cost.
There is plenty of free parking at Send, but there is no public transport with the closest train station a 50-minute walk away.
