Applications are invited for a full-time Lecturer in Journalism Sports Broadcast Journalism to contribute to the academic development, course management, teaching, research development, and scholarship within the School in the area of broadcast journalism in general, with specific knowledge and understanding of sports journalism. Our graduates work for organisations such as the BBC, Sky, national newspapers, magazines, media and corporate communications, and for a range of new digital media companies.
The successful applicant will have recent experience of working as a senior broadcast journalist, previous employment as a sports journalist, and have either teaching experience within a higher education environment or substantial industry experience in a senior editorial role.
A good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant area is essential and ideally the successful applicant will hold a formal teaching qualification or be a Registered Practitioner of Higher Education Academy (or be willing to work towards this).
In addition to teaching, the successful applicant will also be involved in developing industry partnerships and marketing our programmes. Additionally, the successful applicant will either be engaged in research and/or income generation activities or have the potential to develop in these areas. Excellent presentation and communication skills as well as an ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team are essential.
