Job Description We have an exciting opportunity for an Audio Communications Engineer within our Electronics Department to lead and manage the migration of our existing radio and intercom communications systems to a next generation solution. Working closely with our IT department, the Communications Engineer will lead the conceptual design, testing and implementation of a network based audio communications solution throughout the business, becoming an integral member of our highly skilled Red Bull Racing team. We want to work with people who are excited by this challenge and have the talent to deliver performance to continue to win on the racetrack. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Collaborating with 3rd party suppliers of AOIP communications solutions in order to define the Company’s communications system technical requirements. Specifying the detailed system concept design, product hardware selection, licensing requirements, IT network requirements Compiling, monitoring and updating budgetary forecasts, from system concept to delivery of the final deployed solution. Identifying key testing requirements, and define success criteria, before integration it into the company wide IP networked systems. Providing the main internal point of contact for the project and reporting back to both IT and Electronics departments to ensure that the requirements of both parties are compatible and deliverable. Ensuring all Audio communications requirements of the Sporting Governing Body and Commercial Rights Holder are met at all times. Providing oversight and feedback to both Electronics and Project engineering to ensure the physical requirements of all hardware are included in the design of any wiring looms, garage equipment or pit gear. The successful applicant will ideally: Be experienced as a communications focused IP network engineer, familiar with ethernet and fibre based IP network topology, Layer 3 network switch configuration, VLAN and VLAN trunk settings, and operational network support. Be familiar with the deployment of IP based communications protocols ( in particular AES67 and SMPTE 2110-30 Compliant Audio) Be experienced in numerous digital Audio protocol types e.g. AES3, DANTE, SIP, VOIP, as well as Analog 4 wire audio and GPIO functionality. Understand the importance of maintaining SMPTE 2022-7 Redundancy in the system design for networked audio and control data. Demonstrate 1st hand practical application of concepts such as PTP, QoS, IGMP, STP/RSTP Be experienced in the setup configuration and operational support of AOIP communications systems, particularly those used in the at the highest levels in the Motorsport and large-scale event support industries. Display suitable experience of configuring audio hardware for end users e.g Mono and Stereo aural audio mixing, audio conference setup, radio scan lists, permissions and talk groups. Be proficient in the setup, deployment and operational support of both IP and RF based wireless audio communication hardware. Show proficiency with network testing and monitoring tools e.g Wireshark. Be prepared to travel to trackside events to provide the necessary support and management of key test items as part of the project delivery. Prove self-motivated to work independently and autonomously under pressure, whilst demonstrating a wealth of problem solving skills. Be adept at maintaining effective lines of communication throughout the business, including chairing meetings, and writing documentation.
