Stroke Unit is a 25 bedded ward catering for patients following a Stroke and their ongoing rehabilitation. We also cater for general medical patients giving staff a well-rounded experience of nursing general medical patients.
As the Clinical Sister on the ward, you would be part of the leadership team working with staff to help them achieve their potential, conducting development reviews and assisting new staff with training and education.
You will also be assisting and supporting the Ward Manager and Deputy with the day-to-day running of the ward in their absence.
You will be supported and encouraged to undertake quality improvement projects and other work that impacts on maintaining high standards of care, which enhances the patient and staff experiences of the inpatient ward.

Main duties of the job:
* Ensure high quality, evidence-based care is offered to patients and in collaboration with the ward manager, identify the common issues which affect the quality of care, devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings.
* In collaboration with the Ward Manager and Deputy, ensure that the patient has a satisfactory experience by evaluating patient processes and the pathway of care.
* Support the Ward Manager and Deputy in ensuring clinical audit takes place in line with the trusts requirement to improve practice.
* Act as a point of contact for patients, visitors, relatives and staff, acting as a resource for problems and needs, and able to clearly present the patients' views to others.
* Be responsible for assisting others to maintain their potential through the appraisal process, supporting learning and helping staff to maintain their mandatory training.
* Be the main point of contact for new staff including student nurses, international nurses, newly qualified nurses, and healthcare assistants.
* Demonstrate professional leadership, support the clinical team and act as a credible and professional role model, encouraging and empowering other staff to develop both personally and professionally and achieve their maximum potential.
* Assist the Ward Manager and Deputy with the day-to-day management of the ward including rostering, incident investigating, and complaints handling.

* Diploma in Nursing or evidence of recent relevant CPD at diploma level
* Qualified mentor (ENB 998 or mentorship award or equivalent) or working towards
