Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a man in my 40’s living independently in the Barry area. I have previously had brain surgery, which affected my cognitive functions and working memory. I struggle to organise my home and have difficulty making decisions when I am out in the community. I am under the care of secondary mental health services (Community Mental Health Team). I like to keep busy and enjoy playing and watching snooker and drawing. I do not drive or have access to a vehicle so applicants would need to hold a driving licence, have access to their own vehicle, and be willing to take me places in the car.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I am looking for a Personal Assistant (PA) who will be able to support me to do my food shopping and to assist in organising my home.
PLACE OF WORK
Out in the community and at home.
HOURS OF WORK
2 hours per week
RATE OF PAY
£13.65 per hour
TASKS INVOLVED
Supporting me to visits local supermarket (1st week).
Help re-organise my home (2nd week).
Ensuring that I am safe at all times.
Helping me make decisions.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Punctual and dependable, trustworthy, and flexible.
A calming personality with a positive outlook.
Good organisational skills.
Proactive in enabling decision-making.
Somebody with experience of working with people who experience mental health challenges is preferable but not essential.
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid on a monthly basis on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
