Project Manager (Power)

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 + car/allowance, pension, healthcare and 25 days + stats
The Client
Our client is one of the UK’s leading companies in power distribution, electrical networks and facilities management. They offer building maintenance repair, HV/LV Connections, substation maintenance, electrical and civil engineering design, overhead lines work, and more. Due to increasing workload, our client has created a new position for a Project Manager within their substation replacement division in their West Yorkshire offices.
The Role
The main purpose of this role is to manage a team to achieve delivery of switchgear and substation replacement projects on the framework contract to time, safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications. The role reports to the Operations Manager / Senior Project Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage multiple/major projects from cradle to grave safely, competently, and effectively to time and budget;
2. Manage all financial aspects of projects, including the costing and invoicing of any additional works;
3. Provide guidance to team members to ensure the safe, effective and efficient implementation of the company’s operations;
4. Monitor and report on progress of work to the customer as required;
5. Provide guidance on and monitor your team’s approach to safety rules and procedures, method statements, and risk assessments;
6. Liaise with third parties to ensure the smooth implementation of work;
7. Maintain site safety at all times and complete risk assessments;
8. Report any concerns regarding SHE to the SHE team;
9. Manage and review performance of staff reporting to you and identify training needs;
10. Conduct site safety and 1 in 10 inspections and ensure remedial actions are undertaken;
11. Ensure that all statutory records, certificates, licences, notifications and notices are in place;
12. Prepare project Safety, CDM plans and Risk Assessments as part of the overall programme.
Skills and Experience Required
1. Substantial experience of project management;
2. Knowledge of distribution substation equipment – transformers / switchgear / Distribution boards;
3. Experience of working on switchgear / substation / asset replacement works;
4. Sound understanding of the financial aspects of projects;
5. Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and its practical implications;
6. CDM knowledge;
7. NVQ / ONC / HNC or above in a relevant subject;
8. IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS or other safety related qualification;
9. NRSWA accredited;
10. A formal project management qualification;
11. SPEN authorisations would be beneficial.
The Rewards
The rewards for the successful candidate are good. The role is offered on a permanent basis with the company, offering a good basic salary of £55-60,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications) plus benefits package including a car allowance of £4,800 per annum.
