The Role
The role is a one-year maternity cover within an established and respected Finance Team, supporting the Senior Finance Manager & Chief Accountant to deliver robust financial control and reporting.
Successful candidates will work alongside project accounting colleagues, operating as part of a team to provide a financial reporting lens on how transactions are recorded and ensuring adherence to good practice financial control. A proactive approach to good accounting practices and controls is key to ensuring this role positively impacts the organisation.
This role includes a substantial focus on internal reporting and also comes with the responsibility for supporting the new FRS102 updates as well as assisting with a number of process improvement projects within the financial reporting team.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance and execution of transactions for key accounting ledgers including Bank, Payroll, and Fixed Assets.
2. Capital expenditure monitoring, including review of purchase requisitions.
3. Prepare the monthly VAT return and associated controls.
4. Deliver delegated areas of the month-end accounting procedures on time and in line with accounting policy.
5. Support the wider Finance team’s interactions with the external audit team.
6. Provide accounting standards guidance within the Finance team and to the wider business.
7. Deliver robust and timely financial controls and accounting policy development within delegated areas of responsibility.
Person Specification
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
1. Financially qualified (AAT or above).
2. Strong knowledge of FRS102.
3. Strong Excel skills.
4. Project management skills.
5. Communication/presentation capability.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
1. Experience in the manufacturing or professional services sectors.
2. Prior experience of Microsoft Dynamics365.
