About the role
Futures are recruiting for a long-standing client who wish to appoint a Production Engineer with automation experience. It is essential the appointed Production Engineer has completed an engineering focused qualification, has good knowledge of process improvement, is well versed in lean and continuous improvement, and has prior experience of introducing automation into a factory to improve manufacturing volume and output quality. This varied role would suit a multi-faceted engineer currently working as a Process Engineer, Production Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer who has experience of automation looking for a step up in their career.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Identify and implement improvement projects to reduce cost whilst increasing output.
2. Review and make improvements to standard processes and operating procedures, with a specific focus on spotting bottlenecks in production lines, reducing process times, and eliminating scrap material/waste.
3. Excellent understanding of lean and continuous improvement activities.
4. Evaluate suggested CAPEX projects and take the lead on equipment purchasing and factory layout to introduce automation.
Skills and Abilities
1. Degree/HND qualified in engineering.
2. Background in introducing automation to an assembly line focused manufacturing environment.
3. Competent all-rounder with knowledge of production/process engineering and quality.
4. Previous experience of process improvement methodologies and at least three years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineer/Production Engineer style role involving automation.
5. Common sense lean and continuous improvement knowledge.
