Contract: Permanent, full-time position with hybrid working

Yorwaste is looking for a motivated and solutions-focused individual to join our team as an IT Help Desk Apprentice. In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for our team’s IT needs, learning to troubleshoot and solve technical issues while providing excellent service.

As an IT Help Desk Apprentice, you’ll work alongside team members to gain practical experience in supporting Windows desktops and laptops, handling mobile devices on iOS and Android, and using Microsoft 365 products. You will also gain an understanding of networking, Microsoft 365 administration, and managing user access in Active Directory. Throughout the apprenticeship, you’ll develop your communication, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.
We are looking for someone eager to learn, take on new challenges, and adapt quickly to new responsibilities. You’ll be resilient, organised, and able to handle fluctuating workloads while maintaining a calm, friendly approach when supporting colleagues across different sites.
This hands-on role offers daily opportunities to expand your technical knowledge. You’ll learn to update our IT ticketing system, manage user records, set up new devices, and maintain IT asset records. With training and support, you’ll gain confidence in responding to IT requests, working both independently and within the team to positively impact staff across various company locations.
It is essential you have:
* GCSEs in English (Grade 5 / C, or above), Maths (Grade 4 / C, or above), plus an IT subject
* A UK Drivers Licence, with the ability to travel to our sites in North Yorkshire
* Over the age of 16, with valid residency status and the right to work in the UK
What to expect:
As an IT Help Desk Apprentice at Yorwaste you will work towards obtaining a Level 3 qualification in Information Communication Technician. With a course duration of approximately 18 months, you will develop strong communication skills, the ability to prioritise, problem-solve and make decisions in the professional workplace.
We believe in your journey, which is why your employment with Yorwaste is on a permanent basis, with progression to the role of IT Help Desk Technician on successful completion of your apprenticeship.

Initially, training and induction to the role and team will be conducted in person, with the option to transition to a hybrid working model over time.
