Job summary
This highly rewarding role working across the early years and early years complex needs team offers opportunities to work closely with children, families and other professionals to support their understanding of children's speech, language and communication needs, and facilitate the development of functional skills.
This part-time, permanent position is based in Milton Keynes, and offers the chance to be part of a small, supportive team whilst working in a range of environments including community clinics, child development centre, preschool and nursery settings and children's centres.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will deliver culturally responsive, functional assessment of communication needs and work collaboratively with children, families and other professionals to discuss assessment findings, and develop and support the achievement of functional communication goals relevant to the educational and social contexts. You will work closely with Speech and Language Associate Practitioners to support families, regularly attend and contribute to relevant Speech and Language Therapy Team meetings and participate in departmental research and team projects.

Education and Qualifications
Essential
* Registration with Health Professions Council as a speech and language therapist
* Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
* Registered member of RCSLT
* Continuous experience in management of EDS needs in the community

* Membership to appropriate CEN
Experience
Essential
* Postgraduate experience of assessing, diagnosing and implementing appropriate management plans for children with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties, and eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties
* Evidence of continuing professional development and advanced training, e.g. whole class work, Makaton and EDS.
* Specialist knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the client group
* Specialist knowledge of a range of appropriate educational and therapeutic interventions effective for working in nurseries
* Knowledge of prioritisation issues within client group
* Knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to the client group
* Knowledge of principles of clinical governance
