The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a newly created, key role in the business aimed at driving sustainable growth. By developing new products and services, and adopting new technologies to better anticipate and fulfil customer training needs you will enhance the Ruth Lee brand and reputation as a global innovator.
Scope:
1. Research and document customer training needs in key sectors (UK/International)
2. Research and document competitor product offering
3. Research new technologies and suitability for adoption
4. Identify and leverage collaboration partners (users/developers/test-labs/researchers/Gvt)
5. Develop NPD strategy and individual projects in line with ROI guidelines
6. Coordinate and drive new product development and testing ready for market launch
7. Ensure all projects are properly documented in line with ISO/NPD requirements – own and drive the process.
8. Contribute to go-to market strategy plan
9. Improve existing products and assess opportunities for range rationalisation
10. Secure IP protection where applicable
11. Seek grant support from Governments and commercial partners
Education/Experience:
1. Tertiary educated – Business/Marketing degree preferred
2. Minimum 5 years NPD or Product Marketing experience
3. Knowledge of NPD processes and project planning
Job Requirements/Skills:
1. Gain a full understanding of company strategy, product range and manufacturing process
2. Build relationships with key stakeholders (Managing Director, Operations Director, Sales and Marketing Managers, Factory NPD Team, key customers)
3. Gain a full understanding of how manikins are used in specific sectors and training scenarios (including via customer visits) in UK and key export markets
4. Look for new product opportunities (other than training manikins)
5. Adopt clear project planning, processes and reporting, showing project objectives/outcomes/ROI
6. Work with stakeholders to develop and test new product prototypes
7. In liaison with Operations Director calculate and carefully document costs of each project, including time allocation and any materials used.
Candidate Profile:
1. Minimum 5 years NPD/Product marketing experience
2. Strong research and analytical skills, using data to support strategy development and project prioritisation
3. Strong business and project planning skills
4. Confident and clear communicator/presenter/verbal and written
5. Good relationship/rapport building skills
6. A good listener
7. A team player but happy to work independently
8. Strong personal organisation
9. Believes in continuous improvement
10. Has strong personal values
Measures of Success:
1. Development of NPD strategy based on robust market research
2. Clear project plans delivered on time
3. Business growth generated by the development and launch of new products in line with ROI guidelines
Other Requirements:
1. Valid Driving License
2. Permission to live and work in UK and to travel internationally if required
3. Located within reasonable commuting distance of RL office
Pay
£40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year + performance related bonus
