Outside Processing Planner

Position Summary:
As part of the Supply Chain team, this role works to manage and align all facets of Supply Chain Outside Processing (inventory planning, releasing and prioritizing work orders with Outside Processing and manufacturing) while also maintaining, coordinating, and strategizing for contractual commitments and deadlines. This position works closely with all internal SIG departments, especially Production Planning, to tie together all major deadlines. A strong understanding of Supply Chain management and various outside processes, primarily metal processing including heat treatment and coatings, is critical for the success of this individual.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Manage delivery and work order dates based on expectations from the Production Build plan.
2. Monitor parts through manufacturing processes and expedite as required to ensure OSP delivery requirements are met.
3. Monitor the outside vendor schedule performance, track plans, and perform schedule risk analyses.
4. Use Monday.com or equivalent tool to manage and communicate outside processing work priorities based on Planner input and MRP requirements.
5. Responsible for communicating Supplier Forecasts.
6. Work directly with suppliers to manage their capacity and lead times.
7. Recommend viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality while being aware of contractual parameters.
8. Responsible for quoting OSP processes with existing suppliers and potential new suppliers.
9. Manage item attributes in Oracle such as lead times or order modifiers based on material flow and lot sizing.
10. Have a comprehensive grasp of contract traceability requirements and reporting; understand how traceability functions within SIG systems (Oracle).
11. Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills, especially when quality concerns arise and need to be addressed.
12. Assist with providing analytical support for projects as needed.
13. Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
14. Engage in and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
Education and/or Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience.
2. At least 5 years of experience working in a production/manufacturing environment.
3. At least 4 years of experience working in Purchasing or Planning.
4. Experience with ERP systems (especially Oracle), including product master data such as bills of materials (BOMs), routings, purchase orders, and operations.
5. Ability to make decisions with sound judgment while complying with policies and procedures.
6. Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
7. Ability to communicate (written and verbal) clearly and effectively in cross-functional and peer group settings.
8. Maintain safe operations and work area by adhering to all safety, health, and quality programs, procedures, and initiatives.
9. Strong negotiating skills and ability to work well with a team.
10. Comprehensive understanding of MS Office Suite, Oracle EBS, ASCP, and Agile.
Working Conditions:
1. Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
2. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
