SUMMARY
The Editorial Associate reports to the Assistant District Manager and works closely with other members of the District Manager’s Team as needed. This post is instrumental in furthering and fulfilling the Committee on Publication mission of correcting “impositions on the public” regarding Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, and church members, established in Article XXXIII, and Article I, Section 6 of the Church Manual. The work includes a daily commitment to the Christian Science healing practice that enables each need to be addressed effectively and “in a Christian manner.”
This position assists with all activities relating to the editorial and corrective work of the District Manager and Committees on Publication in Great Britain and Ireland (UKI). The practical work may include but is not limited to: sharing impositions with Committees and supporting them in how to respond; writing and editing corrective responses for the media, clergy, and academia; answering inquiries from students, the general public, and church members; supporting Committees in preparing to respond to requests for talks from public groups; researching needed topics; and working to correct misinformation that appears on websites and in social media. Work may also include assisting with various short and long-term projects, preparing for and presenting at Committee conferences and other meetings, as well as direct contact with Committees on Publication in the field, and with media.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Acting in line with current direction from the District Manager’s Office;
* Maintaining an understanding of the landscape or atmosphere of public thought in regard to Christian Science in order to help bring healing of misunderstanding;
* Praying specifically for the healing of impositions;
* Administering and sharing corrective opportunities identified by the Manager’s Office or District Manager’s Office with UKI Committees, writing and/or editing corrective responses to references in the media, academia, clergy, letters, books, etc., as well as responding to other inquiries;
* Assisting with research regarding the above and other correctives;
* Responding to questions, drafting content, and helping to resolve online issues on websites and social media pertaining to Christian Science;
* Drafting content appropriate for the Committee on Publication’s own internal needs;
* Attending meetings including UKI and worldwide correctives meetings, District Manager’s staff meetings, Manager’s staff meetings, and UKI and worldwide Committee meetings;
* Assisting with other projects as assigned;
* Creating and maintaining permanent files for selected materials.

This position has regular contact with the District Manager, other District Manager’s Office and Manager’s Office staff, and UKI Committees on Publication.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
A college degree or its equivalent work experience. Substantial editorial experience or equivalent; project editing desirable.
Knowledge/Skills
This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills; developmental and structural editing abilities and familiarity with copy editing desirable; spiritual discernment, good judgment, and teachability are also needed.
Technology Skills
Office computer skills are required, including word processing, conference calling, internet research, and use of many applications relevant to office, research, and communication. Specifically, a good skill in the use of Google Suites (Docs, Sheets, Slides, calendar, gmail), and internet research (including basic social media skills). Good skills in Microsoft Word are required while experience with Microsoft products such as Excel and PowerPoint would be helpful.
Work Environment
This position regularly works remotely, with at least one in-person visit to the office every month.
Christian Science Information
Membership in The Mother Church and Primary Class instruction required. Christian Science practice helpful.
