The University of Bath is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Practitioner to deliver structured mental health interventions for students facing complex or enduring mental health difficulties. This role involves managing a diverse caseload, conducting comprehensive mental health assessments, providing therapeutic interventions, and working collaboratively with internal teams and external services to ensure students can successfully engage in their studies and broader university life.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver therapeutic interventions, support planning, and work collaboratively with internal teams and external services to manage complex mental health cases.
2. Provide mental health assessments for students with severe or complex mental health issues, offering appropriate interventions and referrals to additional services.
3. Participate in a collaborative duty service to respond to urgent issues, providing same-day assessments and safety planning, and offering professional advice to colleagues.
4. Maintain accurate documentation, meeting policy requirements of both the university and relevant professional bodies.
5. Build and maintain positive working relationships with external service providers, such as GPs and mental health specialists, to ensure timely support for students.
6. Promote mental health awareness and education across the university, including contributing to staff training on mental health issues.
7. Support the development of policies and procedures to enhance services for students with mental health difficulties.
Key Details:
8. Schedule: Flexible, with the expectation of being present on campus up to 4 days a week. Weekend work may be required on a rota basis.
9. DBS Check: A DBS check is required for this role.

Qualifications & Training:
10. Current professional registration in the field of mental health (e.g., NMC, Social Work England, HCPC).
11. Degree-level qualification in mental health or a related field.
12. Ongoing professional development in mental health and therapeutic interventions.
Knowledge & Experience:
13. Experience carrying out comprehensive mental health and risk assessments across complex cases.
14. Demonstrated ability to support individuals with complex mental health difficulties in a multi-agency context.
15. Experience delivering targeted, evidence-based mental health interventions.
16. Ability to manage crisis situations and develop collaborative risk management plans.
17. Previous experience in higher education is desirable.
