Orion Group is working with a successful and established Civil Engineering Contractor seeking a Design Management Engineer to join their team based in Northern Scotland, supporting the design management of major infrastructure projects across their renewable energy, highways, and marine portfolio.
So, what are we looking for?
You will be working on several projects across the Energy Sector including Wind Farms, Substations and Grid Reinforcement with project values typically ranging upwards from £20m. It is essential that you can work in a collaborative manner with internal and external project stakeholders, actively managing the design process for large scale construction projects, ensuring efficient and accurate information flow between all project participants.
You will have the ability to identify and develop value engineering proposals leading to efficient design solutions and assist with obtaining consents and permissions from external stakeholders.
You'll also need to be able to work at pace. Our business moves quickly, and we need to keep up with the demand. Flexibility, agility, and resilience are key attributes for this role.
Along with demonstrable delivery experience, additional skills and experience that would enhance your application:
1. Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
2. Experience in civil engineering projects, preferably in renewable energy infrastructure, highways, or marine construction.
3. Experience with design aspects of civil engineering works and familiarity with design standards.
4. A level of experience of engaging with external stakeholders such as SEPA, NatureScot, Planning Authorities.
Desirable Experience:
1. Understanding of heavy civils construction techniques.
2. Familiarity with MCHW or National Grid specifications.
3. Knowledge of Scottish civil engineering sector.
4. Working knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts.
Please note: Due to the nature of the location, a valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel to remote sites is required. Additionally, applicants must possess valid right to work in the UK documents.

Location: This role is based in their Dingwall office, with potential hybrid working available. The Glasgow office may be considered an alternative location depending on circumstances for the right candidate.
