We have an exciting opportunity for a staff Nurse to join the RACE Unit/Older Persons Assessment Unit based at Poole Hospital.
* The Older Persons Assessment Unit is newly refurbished and customised to facilitate 24/7 admissions for our aging community. With capacity for 21 bed spaces, the unit is always bustling and no two days are the same. We are looking for a dynamic and passionate person to join our developing team to lead and empower one another in providing quality care to our complex elderly community.
Our aim is to provide all our patients with a comprehensive geriatric assessment upon admission. This approach means our patients receive the right care at the right time. In achieving this, we work very closely as a multidisciplinary team.

This role requires an active UK NMC Registration
Based at: Poole Hospital (but will eventually move to Royal Bournemouth Hospital)

There is a planned move for this service during 2025 when this role and base of work will relocate to Bournemouth site. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance/reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the post holder's home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Ability to demonstrate fundamental nursing knowledge and practice skills in the care of the elderly
* Demonstrate understanding of own role and professional expectations and accountability in practice in line with NMC Code
* Awareness of role in relation to patient experience, quality and safety agendas that support Governance Frameworks
* Demonstrable ability with vital signs monitoring equipment and ability to recognise the deteriorating patient
* Non-IV and IV medication administration
* Venepuncture and cannulation
* ECG recording
* IV medication administration including blood products
Qualification
* NMC Registered Nurse
* Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing Studies
* Teaching Qualification
* Post-registration courses related to the Elderly Care Directorate
