Job Details
As a Caretaker/Cleaner, you will be required to work a shift pattern that includes evenings and weekends. This role involves cleaning and maintaining all designated areas to a high standard and preparing and clearing equipment/areas as appropriate to suit the needs of customers and service users. You will engage with customers and service users positively.
This role also includes occasional receptionist duties, which involve operating our booking procedures and systems, as well as responding to customer inquiries and requests face to face or by answering telephones or emails.
You will operate in accordance with service guidelines and health and safety policy, following all associated risk assessments and standard operating procedures. You will ensure all building compliance checks are completed periodically, including fire safety checks, water quality checks, and asbestos monitoring.
Additionally, you will be a nominated key holder responsible for ensuring the building is open at designated times and secured correctly at the end of each working day. This includes internal, external, and outdoor facilities and may involve operating the building alarm system. You may be required to respond to out-of-hours alarm activations.
At times, this role will include lone working. While it is not essential to hold a driving license, you may be expected to travel between different facilities, some of which may have limited public transport links.
The Person
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who can work unsupervised and independently as part of a wider team. You will possess good communication skills, be customer-focused, and demonstrate a “can-do” attitude at all times.
The successful applicant must also:
1. Be confident and level-headed when dealing with people at all levels.
2. Be flexible and able to work on their own initiative.
3. Have excellent teamwork skills.
4. Possess a basic understanding of IT and be capable of using a variety of internal systems.
5. Have good customer service skills.
6. Be available mainly for evening work, with occasional weekend cover required.
Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
