My client is a privately owned main contractor with a turnover of £40 million. They have successfully produced steel framed buildings and retail parks to the value of £15 million for over 10 years. Having delivered one successful project after another for their client base, they have not needed to go out to competitive tender for over 7 years - everything is either repeat or via recommendations.
PROJECTS:
The initial project will be a £2.6 million New Build and refurbishment project, with a £7.5 million project to follow.
THE ROLE: Site Manager/Senior Site Manager
This role will be ideal for an ambitious Site Manager or Senior Site Manager who is now looking to progress their career and be mentored for a future Project Management position.
As a member of the Project Management Team, the Site Manager/Senior Site Manager is required to manage and be responsible for delivering the project requirements and deliverables. You will be part of a wider team on larger projects, where you will have specific tasks/areas/elements/packages you are responsible for delivering, including managing a number of site managers and supporting team members with technical support and problem solving.
Duties as a Site Manager/Senior Site Manager:
1. Chair/attend weekly sub-contract progress review meetings.
2. Monitor the quality of work carried out and address any issues with both the team and suppliers. Develop a robust Project Quality Plan including sampling, test inspection logs, as-built drawings, photographs, etc.
3. Resolve problems with and between trades.
4. Manage team members, making expectations clear and reviewing performance standards.
5. Implement and maintain health, safety, and environmental legislation and company procedures.
6. Ensure all programmes, plans, method statements, and risk assessments are up to date, understood, and adhered to by all the necessary people.
7. Produce short-term trade programmes on a weekly basis with a 4-week forward review.
8. Be aware of contract terms.
9. Promote high standards of work completion across the site.
10. Keep up to date and complete site records in line with company and legislative requirements.
11. Manage prelim costs where appropriate within budget.
12. Ensure compliance with specifications.
13. Be a role model, ensuring high standards of personal conduct on site at all times and delivering a professional image.
14. Hold/attend weekly team meetings to discuss project delivery, identify improvement opportunities, and celebrate success.
This position is considered a fast-track role to Project Management.
