Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Trust (BHRUT) have an exciting opportunity for a RGN Radiology to work across their hospitals as a part of their devoted mental health multidisciplinary team.

BHRUT’s main hospitals, King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford, offer exceptional mental healthcare and support for their patients. Both hospitals run hugely dedicated psychiatric liaison services, which enable clinical staff to better manage and identify the needs of mental health patients and arrange appropriate aftercare as a means to promote recovery.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified mental health nurse to diversify their skills by working across multiple sites and learning from a highly accomplished emergency clinical team.
Job summary
* The role of the Radiology Nurse will include, but not limited to the following duties:
* Delivering high quality nursing care, acting as patient advocate within a variety of specialist areas and ensuring correct documentation available for each case e.g. consent form, blood results available, WHO check list and post procedural care sheet.
* To assist with procedures performed under Ultrasound, CT or Fluoroscopy guided imaging, ensuring all the necessary equipment required is available.
* Pre-procedural nursing care for patients – this involves assessing the physical and psychological well-being of a patients.
* Procedural patient care – the nurse will either take the role of circulating, scrubbing role or Nurse Seditionist after training. This will also involve assessing, planning and implementing the care of the conscious-sedated patient and will include monitoring of blood pressure, pulse, electrocardiogram (ECG), oxygen saturation and capnography if sedation is given.
* Participate and ensuring that all safety checks are performed including WHO checklist.
* Co-ordinate and document planned patient care during procedural phase and act on changes to the patient’s condition and interpret the significance of data observed and recorded.
* Postoperative patient care- ensure that sufficient information regarding the patient’s condition and the procedure undertaken is given to ward staff to enable total care to be carried out.
* Will undertake formal on call duties covering both Neuro and General Intervention after training.
* Show ability to respond quickly and efficiently to unexpected patient’s needs.
* Follow safety rules for Radiation Protection for staff and patients including the wearing of protective clothing (lead aprons, thyroid protection).
* Adhere to safety rules for patient’s protection when undergoing imaging procedures in accordance with Trust Policies.
* Administers medication and treatment as prescribed, safely and accurately, and ensure safe custody of drugs, to include checking stocks in accordance with Trust Policy.
Important Requirements:
* An RGN qualification.
* Previous Interventional Radiology, Theatre, CDU or Neuro experience.
* 2 Satisfactory, professional references covering 3 years.
* Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
* A minimum of 6 months experience working within the NHS.
* A genuine commitment to adhering to the NMC Codes of Conduct and expanding your professional development.
* A respectful, courteous, and compassionate nature and belief in giving your personal best, at all times.
* Excellent communication skills, and ability to liaise with other healthcare professionals and resident families.
* Experience of care planning and report writing.
