This leading civil engineering firm has experienced rapid growth in the last 5 years and has exciting plans for 2025. Specialising in groundworks and street works, they deliver outstanding projects for some of the UK’s leading housebuilders, industrial firms, and tier 1 engineering contractors. We seek a Business Development Manager to spearhead the company’s growth strategy and help expand their client portfolio in the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors. Reporting to the board, this key leadership role will involve identifying new business opportunities, forging strong relationships with existing clients and industry partners, and overseeing the entire sales cycle, from initial contact to contract negotiation. The ideal candidate will be proactive, driven, and have a strong background in business development within the construction or engineering sectors. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Business Development: Develop and implement a business development strategy aligned with company growth targets. Identify and pursue new market opportunities in civil engineering, groundworks, street works, and infrastructure sectors. Target frameworks, and recurring revenue streams building on their company specialisms. Create and manage a pipeline of prospective clients and projects. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their needs and identifying opportunities for additional work. Act as the key contact for high-profile clients and partners, representing the company in meetings, negotiations, and industry events. Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring repeat business and long-term partnerships. Performance and Growth: Own the company's sales & marketing efforts including physical activities and collateral. Collaborate with internal teams, including estimating, project management, and finance, to ensure proposals are competitive and commercially viable. Present regular reports to the board on pipeline, revenue forecasts, and market insights. Lead efforts to improve client acquisition processes and optimise marketing activities. Experience Required: Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role within the construction or civil engineering sector. Strong understanding of the civil engineering and infrastructure markets. Exceptional relationship-building skills and a robust professional network. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making at a senior level. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong financial acumen and commercial awareness.
