Bury Council is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Team Manager to join their Family Safeguarding Team.
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people? Do you want to work using strength-based models of social work practice and motivational interviewing? If so, they have an exciting opportunity at Bury for you to join their dedicated Family Safeguarding Team.
As the Team Manager, you will lead a team comprising an Advanced Social Work Practitioner and 5 Social Workers. The team also includes a Business Support Officer, Domestic Abuse Officer, Domestic Abuse Practitioner, Mental Health Practitioner, Drug and Alcohol Worker, Family Support Worker, and a Clinical Psychologist.
They are the first authority within the Greater Manchester area to implement and pioneer Herefordshire’s Family Safeguarding model. This is a fantastic opportunity to change the way they work with children and families in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children of Bury.
Within Family Safeguarding, they use motivational interviewing and a multi-agency approach under the Family Safeguarding model, where Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Recovery Workers, Mental Health Practitioners, and Psychologists collaborate closely to address family issues efficiently, reducing the need for referrals to other agencies.
You will have oversight of children and young people who are subject to child in need and child protection planning, who are subject to pre-proceedings and in care and private law proceedings.
You will have the opportunity to build trusting relationships with children and families. They know this supports positive and effective engagement, which achieves better outcomes for children and prevents their needs from escalating.
To help achieve their ambitions for children and families, they are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Team Manager who is child-focused and committed to relationship-based social work. You will be a qualified Social Worker, registered with SW England.

* DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work
* Social Work England registration
* Enhanced and in-date DBS certificate
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to make good decisions based on available information
* Ability to work alone and within/contribute to a team/multi-agency setups
* Possess knowledge of service needs
* Competent IT skills and ability to navigate electronic file/recording systems
* Ability to write clear, concise, and robust assessments/reports/files
* Flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises
