Job Description
We seek an accomplished PCB Design Engineer to contribute to our innovative team. This is a unique opportunity for someone with extensive PCB design or power electronics expertise to deliver services for a space program.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the end-to-end design of complex PCBs for aerospace and space applications, ensuring they meet strict performance, reliability, and environmental standards.
* Design high-frequency RF, high-speed digital, and power distribution circuits tailored for space systems.
* Conduct detailed analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, and support design verification and testing processes.
* Manage the development of multi-layer PCBs, including RF stack-ups, impedance control, and power integrity.
* Ensure designs comply with relevant space and aerospace standards, and support certification processes.
* Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers) for PCB bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting.
* Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., RF, systems, software) to ensure seamless integration of PCBs into overall system designs.
* Lead design reviews, provide progress updates, and track the status of PCB designs against project timelines.
* Continuously improve PCB design processes, tools, and methodologies to optimise design time and reduce costs.
Requirements:
* Education: BEng, MEng, or PhD in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
* Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in PCB design, ideally within aerospace, defence, or space sectors.
* PCB Design: Advanced proficiency in PCB schematic capture, layout, and routing, with expertise in Altium or similar tools.
* High-Speed and RF Design: Strong experience in high-speed digital and RF PCB design, including high-frequency signal integrity and EMC considerations.
* Power Distribution: Deep understanding of power management design, including DC-DC converters, power integrity, and thermal management.
* Compliance and Standards: In-depth knowledge of CE, FCC, and space-specific standards (e.g., NASA, ESA), including experience with product certification processes.
* Lab Testing: Skilled in using lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers) to verify and troubleshoot designs.
* Simulation: Experience with signal integrity and power integrity simulation tools to optimise designs before prototyping.
* Communication: Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts across multidisciplinary teams.
* Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex PCB design issues.
* Tools: Experience with Altium Designer (preferred), as well as PCB simulation and analysis tools.
Benefits:
* Competitive Basic Salary £70,000 - £90,000 per annum depending on experience.
* 6% Employers Contribution + 6% as a salary sacrifice.
* Private Medical Insurance, Life Cover and Income Protection.
* 25 days holiday (+ bank holidays).
* 5 days full sick pay per year.
* Flexi-working.
* Cycle to Work & TechScheme.
* Continuous professional development (SFIA Framework).
* Corporate access to the Udemy platform.
