To communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, carers and relatives, and staff from other specialities. Ensure timely and effective communication with all nuclear medicine staff. Communicate with staff and patients both on the telephone and face-to-face. Information communicated will include: Basic explanation of procedures, patient preparations, radiation protection precautions after procedure. Advising patients on medication withdrawal before tests under protocol. Following up patients who have not confirmed their attendance for specific appointments. Schedule patients into appropriate time slots as per the booking template, book all patient appointments on RIS and send out appointment letters together with Patient Information Leaflets. Some of these tests will be complex and require careful liaison with patients and department availability. Arrange portering services for in-patients and communicate with ward staff. Coordinate imaging appointments with the Paediatric Department. Liaise with the Breast Screening Unit, Surgical Admissions and ward staff to ensure sentinel lymph node procedures are performed at a suitable point in the patient pathway, with guidance from clinical staff.
