Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To undertake all nursing procedures and practises in accordance with Neonatal Unit policies and in conjunction with the Trust's policies.
* To be an associate nurse resource for the babies, their families, and the multi-disciplinary team.
* To manage care in conjunction with the principal care coordinator or senior nurse.
* To assess, plan and implement nursing care in negotiation with the child, family, and multi-disciplinary team to ensure individualised nursing care.
* To evaluate nursing care using the computerised nursing information system, facilitate discussion with the multi-disciplinary and implement appropriate nursing developments in the best interest of the child and family.
* To always act in a manner to promote the wellbeing of the baby and family and undertake personal and clinical development to ensure safe practice.
* To assist medical staff in the treatment and care of babies.
* To communicate with the principal care coordinator and multi-disciplinary team to ensure high standards of nursing care are delivered.
* To maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records, using appropriate documentation, and ensure their confidentiality and safe keeping.
* To organise workload in line with clinical priorities.
* To always behave in a manner that is professional, positive, and polite.
* To always act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct with reference to limitations of competence and conduct.
