Engineering Manager

Are you a hands-on Engineering Manager looking for a leadership role where you can drive efficiency and continuous improvement? This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading manufacturing business, ensuring the smooth operation of production through effective team management and engineering excellence. With a strong focus on team leadership, compliance, and preventative maintenance, this role requires 60-70% of time spent on the factory floor .
What You'll Be Doing:
Leading, motivating, and developing the engineering team to achieve business objectives.
Managing engineering workload, prioritising and delegating tasks to maximise efficiency.
Ensuring all plant, equipment, and systems comply with health & safety and food safety regulations .
Driving a proactive maintenance strategy, minimising downtime and optimising production.
Implementing and managing preventative maintenance systems and inspections .
Controlling and improving engineering stores and spare parts management.
Championing continuous improvement and best practices, introducing new technologies where appropriate.
Supporting HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP teams as part of the food safety framework.
Managing engineering health & safety and risk assessments in collaboration with the HS Officer.
Providing on-call support to resolve urgent engineering issues outside normal working hours.
What You'll Need:
? Relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
? Extensive practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering.
? 16th / 17th Edition certification .
? Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills .
? Highly organised and proactive, with strong time management skills.
? Excellent project management and planning abilities .
? Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting data to drive intelligent engineering strategies.
? Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and remain calm in challenging situations.
? A positive, driven, and motivated attitude towards work and colleagues.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
? NEBOSH / IOSH qualification .
? Food hygiene qualification .
? Previous experience as an Engineering Manager in a food manufacturing environment .
