Our client is a Northampton based company seeking a Technical Product Support Engineer offers a great opportunity to work on demanding engineering projects. This takes the form of manufacturing support equipment and process management hard and software. Their role includes taking projects from presales to install, commissioning and training through to technical and service support after the sale. Job Objectives The Technical Product Support Engineer is responsible for the technical support within the UK and Ireland. You will maintain and grow business with existing customers through your support and technical expertise. Main Duties The key role is to support our exciting range of products out in the marketplace Follow up and take ownership of our customer queries by telephone, email, online meetings with media such as MS Teams and customer face to face meetings Support high end and technically advanced solutions to manufacturing companies in the UK and Ireland You will report directly to and initially job shadow the Technical Director You will be self-motivated and conduct your work in a skilled, safe and professional manner You will be expected to take ownership of challenges and opportunities to their conclusions You will be required to develop your skills and set personal goals to fully understand the product applications and services we offer You will focus on customers with inefficient or obsolete systems and equipment with a view to updating and introducing our latest range of products and services You will need to offer technical advice in order to provide a solution, often thinking outside-the-box to develop customised integration solutions for key customers You will be involved with editing and writing software code files in Visual Basic and .NET with communications to SQL databases and 3rd party control systems You will develop aftermarket business revenue for spares and service contracts You will need to manage customers effectively and develop good working relationships in order to increase business There will be extensive travel around the UK and Ireland for customer meetings Skill Requirement To be successful in this position it is essential to have a strong technical background, with a minimum qualification of a recognised Batchelors Degree (from a UK University) in either an Engineering or I.T. related subject, or 10 years of technical support related job experience Knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing industry, and some experience working within this sector would be beneficial You must be able to demonstrate an aptitude and logic for PC based systems and have advanced experience with Windows based operating systems A knowledge of computer coding is necessary and the ability to understand/produce post-processing applications in Visual Basic and .NET. SQL database experience would also be beneficial to your application Experience with consulting, planning and implementing technical software integrations or solutions for outside companies would be an advantage Good written and verbal communication skills at all levels will enable the successful candidate to deliver presentations both online and face to face Excellent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Some mechanical service experience would be beneficial to your application, such as service/repair work to machinery or other physical equipment.
