The job description below outlines the position of a shore-based marine engineer.
Typically, this person will undertake maintenance and repairs on a growing fleet of Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV) around the UK, working both on location and in the office. The role will involve working with high-speed engines such as MTU, MAN, and Volvo Penta, as well as gearboxes and electrical, hydraulic, and heating systems. They will collaborate with crew members to ensure vessel availability and provide support with repairs and training.

Duties and responsibilities of the Shore-Based Marine Engineer :
• Perform general vessel maintenance, inspection, and repairs
• Conduct engine changes (MTU, MAN, Volvo Penta) and gearbox changes (Twindisc, Servogear)
• Fault-find and repair electrical, hydraulic, and heating systems
• Collaborate closely with the crew to understand problems and train them to service/check vessels
• Travel to multiple sites across the UK and occasionally Europe
• Adapt to flexible working hours and respond to breakdowns/emergency repairs
• Maintain and promote QHSE standards and safety culture on all vessels and sites
Qualifications and requirement for the Shore-Based Marine Engineer :
• Demonstrable experience in a service engineer role, with exposure to high-speed engines
• Proven ability in diagnostic checks and in-depth fault-finding
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills
• Proactive, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
• Full, valid driving license
• Desirable: Experience with MTU and Volvo engines, NVQ Engineering or equivalent
• UK Passport
