Key Responsibilities
* Management Review & Reporting - Take overall responsibility for review of accounts under Mark to Market accounting in compliance with internal control guidelines and review requirements. Provide meaningful commentary & analysis to meet the group timetable and the needs of the management team. Support relevant Executives in understanding the monthly financial performance of the business area.
* Division Focus & Business Partnership - Be the trusted overall expert on all financial aspects of the product books in remit, ready to partner, influence and be called on as required by both finance colleagues and the wider business.
* Middle Office to Back Office reconciliation - Provide direction and take responsibility for the reconciliation of Back Office accounting to the P&L created by the Middle Office Risk team.
* Business Planning & Financial Analysis - Actively own the forecast and business planning process for product books in remit, ensuring assumptions are aligned with your knowledge of the business areas and are representative of the latest directions of the key stakeholders and Leadership Team.
* Continuous Improvement - Be overall responsible for identifying areas for improvement across the Finance function which impacts data fed into, or created by, the team, as well as coordinating the multi-team effort to resolve identified issues and processes.
* Relationship Management - Build strong relationships within the Finance function, Middle Office Risk team, operational teams and relevant Leadership Team. Demonstrate leadership in dealing with transactional and non-transactional teams contributing to overall reported results.
* Coaching & Development - Use knowledge and experience to manage and develop members of the team, providing the support they need to grow in their roles while also contributing to the overall output of the team.
* Data Analytics - Drive projects within team and across the finance function to create efficiencies and productivity improvements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required competencies:
* Degree (2.1 or above) and ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant - minimum 3 years post-qualification experience
* Management accounting
* Sound Excel skills
* Possesses and demonstrates real analytical skill and can apply a logical approach to new challenges
* Be a strong communicator and possess an ability to develop trusting and credible relationships at all levels of the business, to Executive level, and to respect different opinions and ideas
* Have a questioning and inquisitive mind - not afraid to ask questions or challenge convention, nor to drive improvements and efficiencies as appropriate
* Takes personal responsibility and accountability for their work - you will own everything reported
* Able to analyse and interpret significant quantities of financial data and relate back to business issues.
* Be flexible and adaptable - this is a senior role within one of the largest teams in Finance and there will be times it will be required to step up and move out of their comfort zone
* Ambitious, enthusiastic and looking to progress within a reputable and fast-moving organisation.
