Position: Horse Groom & PA
Location: Leeds
Hours: 26 hours per week, afternoons over 6 days including Saturday
Pay: £11.44 per day, £15.44 on weekends
Job Description:
The role involves caring for 1 horse and supporting a para rider. Responsibilities include:
1. Proficient in exercise therapy and groundwork tasks such as lunging, long reining, and polework.
2. Basic knowledge of equine anatomy, illnesses, and injuries is required; proof of experience and at least one equine reference must be provided.
3. Taking sole responsibility for equine care at times.
4. Assisting the rider with various tasks including mounting assistance, tacking up, and other aspects of horse care (no yard duties other than checks).
5. Managing appointments, events, bookings, and supplies (vaccinations, vet, physio, etc.).
6. Providing reminders for medication, fatigue, and temperature, as well as accompanying the rider to ensure timely transport.
Training and further free courses available. We are looking for an honest, trustworthy, and caring individual who is interested in working with a disabled rider and supporting their goals.
Qualifications: While no formal qualifications are required, free training in grooming, first aid, and moving handling is available.
We require dedicated long-term support; please only apply if you are committed. A sense of humor, positivity, and the ability to motivate and refocus are essential traits. The rider has been overcoming illness challenges and requires understanding and supportive assistance.
