Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering
Full-time position
West Yorkshire
Who are we?
We are a Manchester-based civil engineering and utility services group, continuing our major expansion plans in 2025 and beyond, targeting a strengthening of its workforce by up to 20%. Bethell, which has operated in the Northwest for over 150 years, has a significant number of framework contracts with the Utility sector, Local Authorities, and key infrastructure clients. We have a proven track record of working in highly regulated environments and the successful management and self-delivery of civil engineering work packages up to £10m in value. With continued long-term frameworks in place, we offer guaranteed continuity of work in the northwest and Yorkshire areas of England, a competitive salary, and an excellent benefit package.
Your next career opportunity could be with Bethell!
With our expansion into Yorkshire following successful awards wins for large-scale infrastructure projects, we are now looking for a Senior QS to join us and work from our newly established office within the Leeds area. This will involve some days at Head Office in Greater Manchester.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be ensuring value is maximised, risks are mitigated, and cashflow is maintained at every delivery stage from pre-construction through to post-construction. You’ll be liaising with all involved internal and external stakeholders throughout, including our site, commercial, operations, finance, and support leads, to ensure all necessary contractual and commercial deliverables are met. As a senior member of the team, you’ll be providing a role model for our trainee and assistant quantity surveyors, assisting with their development, and sharing your experience when and where possible.
Who are we looking for?
Our next Senior Quantity Surveyor is someone who holds a good working knowledge of the civil engineering industry and has applicable experience as a quantity surveyor, either through a degree or 10 years plus within the profession. Experience with Waste Water, Structures, Highways, and large-scale civil engineering projects would be beneficial. We’re looking for an individual who has a demonstrable, sound commercial understanding and has previously proven the ability to maximise value and effective cash management through a good understanding of contract terms and conditions.
