Rainhill High School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form centre located in Rainhill, Merseyside, England. The school converted to an academy under Rainhill Learning Village in March 2017. More recently, the school has become part of the Stephenson MAT and was graded as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in February 2023. About the Role
We are looking to appoint a Student Support & Study Supervisor who can support post 16 learners towards achieving their goals, ensuring they are being prepared for the next stage of education, training or employment and that high quality destinations are being accessed. This will involve pastoral concerns, including those related to attendance, punctuality, motivation, and attitude to learning, to promote a positive and caring culture. You will be expected to:
1. Work as part of a team under the leadership and management of the Senior Assistant Principal Sixth Form, to support the attainment of annual key performance indicators (which include recruitment, retention, attainment, progress, Gatsby and destinations).
2. Supervise students working in the Study Area, ensuring this is a quiet and productive environment.
3. Lead on employer engagement for all RH6 learners, including the placement of students on work experience.
Purpose of the Post:
1. Support learners towards achieving their goals, ensuring they are being prepared for the next stage of education, training or employment and that high quality destinations are being accessed.
2. Effectively address learner issues and concerns, including those related to attendance, punctuality, motivation, and attitude to learning, to promote a positive and caring culture.
3. Report safeguarding concerns to the school’s designated safeguarding lead as appropriate.
4. Provide high quality administrative service support for the effective function of RH6 and FEFA.
5. Work as part of a team under the leadership and management of the Director of Sixth Form, to support the attainment of annual key performance indicators.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversee accurate attendance records and follow up on all absences.
2. Liaise with students and parents/carers regarding attendance and punctuality issues.
3. Supervise students during their study periods and work alongside the Sixth Form team to maximize students' academic success.
4. Conduct one-to-one meetings with learners throughout the academic year.
5. Ensure timely completion of tasks expected of the role through effective time management.
6. Support Learner Voice activity and administer learner questionnaires.
7. Address learner behaviour concerns in a timely manner.
8. Work with learners to build resilience and find solutions to individual challenges.
9. Monitor progression of learners and provide support with UCAS and other applications.
10. Participate in internal quality assurance processes and self-assessment.
Other Duties:
1. Prioritize own workload and comply with relevant legal requirements.
2. Participate in parents' evenings and school liaison work.
3. Assist in admissions activities and employer engagement events.
Personal Qualities
Qualifications:
1. Good standard of education up to GCSE or equivalent.
2. Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
3. At least Level 3 qualification in relevant subject area.
Knowledge and Experience:
1. Experience of mentoring learners.
2. Experience working within an Education or Youth setting.
3. Understanding of the range of needs of learners in an educational setting.
Skills and Abilities:
1. Excellent organizational skills.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
4. Proactive and committed to continuous personal and professional development.
