Transport Office Manager
Starting salary £35,294, increasing to £38,207, after 12 months, plus shift allowance, 10% annual bonus potential, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays rincreasing to 27.5 days after 10 years, and a company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates (all pro rata to working hours)
Permanent, Part time - 36 hours per week
This role is based at our Northern Ireland Mail Centre, with the following shift pattern - Saturday 07.00 – 19.30, Sunday 18.00 – 06.00, Monday 19.00 – 07.00.

Reporting to the Distribution Manager, you’ll be responsible for the management of the transport and distribution operations within the Distribution/VOC shift. Leading and motivating the team to create high performance and commitment, you’ll ensure work plan is achieved through successful management of pipeline interfaces.
About the role
• Responsible for ensuring safe and legal operations, including maintaining and monitor all aspects of the fleet Operators Licence in line with business policy
• Ensure compliance to Road Transport Directive legislation and EU hours regulations
• Line Management of drivers and operation on shift ensuring work plan and scorecard targets are achieved, following SOPs
• Demonstrate the use of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques in performance improvement across balanced scorecard including Employee Survey
• Responsible for all 1st Line HR policy and process e.g., conduct and attendance, Bullying and Harassment, Road Traffic Collision, adherence to all PSP standards (Welcome Back, attendance review prompts)
• Ownership of shift Manpower Plan, holding weekly resourcing meeting to ensure all duties are resourced as efficiently as possible liaising with agency where necessary and ensuring that robust plans are in place for Special Events and Christmas Peak
• Co-ordinate planned and non-planned maintenance of vehicles, in liaison with Service Centre using the PMT1 procedure
• Responsible for measurement and display of key metrics and analysing these to address improvement actions including high impact duties to achieve move to time targets
• Maintain duty record (P318’s) ensuring timely upload to Management Data Systems, providing daily shift and other reporting by the Distribution Manager
• Proactively managing pipeline interfaces on and between shifts
About you
To truly excel in role, you will possess the necessary skills and experience listed below –
• Experience of team management
• Knowledge of safety and legal requirements, including drivers’ hours legislation, vehicle checks, Safe Systems of Work, risk assessments and accident investigation
• Industry experience and working knowledge of mails and Parcelforce operations, leading teams and delivering results across a balanced scorecard
• To hold Certificate of Professional Competence or be prepared to study for and attain within 12 months (essential role criteria)
• Ability to deal with customer issues in a timely manner and under pressure
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with team via 121, huddles and Work Time Listening & Learning (where required)
• Willingness to learn, data analysis and problem-solving skills
