You will have the opportunity to take an active role in the education and advancement of all Sonographers. You will assist the Ultrasound leads with planning the future workforce supply needs and identifying and developing training capacity to fulfill those needs.
You should be an experienced practitioner with evidence of supporting students/staff through preceptorship and participating in undertaking academic competencies. You will be expected to deliver CPD and training sessions for all ultrasound staff and students.
As a Band 8A Sonographer, you will lead and participate in central audit and continuous improvement programs, attend regular MDTs, and help develop and review standard departmental protocols.
In your role, you will deputize, support, and represent the Site Modality Lead Sonographer and Clinical Lead Sonographer when needed. You will also lead certain areas of the department, providing support, advice, and motivation to all staff.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder will be an expert practitioner, resource, and role model in order to develop and maintain an effective clinical learning environment. They will provide line management, leadership, and support to the Sonographers and trainee Sonographers to ensure women, pregnant people, and their families receive high-quality care.
* The role will involve extensive engagement with the Directorate, the Divisions, and clinical areas within the Trust to build relationships with Senior Sonographers, midwives/nurses, and education leads.
* The post holder will understand the drivers and challenges in supporting, supervising, and assessing students and apprentices in different service areas along with close partnership working with placement teams in our partnering HEIs.
* The role will also require engagement with a range of external organisations to share expertise and discuss options for improving current processes.
* The post holder will also be expected to prepare and deliver progress reports at Trust and sector-wide meetings as required.
* Collaboration with the Clinical Placement Facilitators to design strategies to foster cultural and behavioral change within the practice environment.
* The post holder will work closely with the Senior Sonographers, Midwifery team, and lead Obstetricians and Neonatologists for education to ensure all standards are achieved, and a robust process is in place to meet all governance agendas.

Essential
* Recognised postgraduate qualification in ultrasound and/or equivalent level of knowledge gained through extensive experience.
* Post Graduate Certificate of Education or equivalent.
