Description Amazon Travel and Events (AT&E) Organisation is looking for a highly motivated and talented Travel and Events Sustainability Manager to join our team. This strategic role leads the definition and execution of Amazon's Travel and Events sustainability program, aligned with Amazon's Climate Pledge commitment of net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The position is responsible for developing overall program strategy while tactically guiding teams both within and outside the organization to meet program objectives. The successful candidate will demonstrate being comfortable to challenge the status quo. This global role manages the delivery of multiple large-scale, complex projects to create scalable solutions that embed sustainability best practices across Amazon businesses. The ideal candidate will possess a continuous improvement mindset, constantly seeking opportunities to enhance, streamline, and drive efficiencies. The individual in this role will actively monitor emerging trends and advancements in sustainability, business travel, meetings, and events industries to ensure AT&E remains at the forefront of innovation. They must maintain current knowledge of sustainability regulations and legislation, particularly regarding sustainability reporting, accounting, and governance. A comprehensive understanding of business travel and events is essential to understand travel technology, data and operational eco-systems and interdependencies. Effective communication is crucial for this role in order to demonstrate clear and concise verbal and written communication skills across various roles, functions, and leadership levels. This position requires a combination of strategic thinking and tactical execution, with a focus on driving measurable results in line with Amazon's sustainability commitments. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping travel and events sustainability at Amazon. Key job responsibilities - Develop and implement a T&E sustainability program in line with Amazon's Climate Pledge net-zero by 2040 commitment - Independently lead multiple global projects, from concept to completion, collaborating with subject matter experts across Amazon divisions and businesses - Establish and implement short and long-term sustainability goals and projects in partnership with travel operations, data, technology, supplier category, communications and procurement teams - Responsible for scope 3.6 carbon data assurance, carbon footprint documentation and emissions data methodology - Develop data-driven solutions to help business units track and achieve decarbonization goals - Deliver effective verbal narratives and create and deliver executive written communications including Amazon 6-pager, Press Release/FAQ documents - Deliver engaging educational content to raise awareness of environmental impacts of travel and influence travelers to select lower carbon options - Develop and drive travel and event supply chain sustainability initiatives that align with Amazon's sustainability supply chain standards and unlock solutions for low carbon employee travel and events - Communicate both a vision for sustainability strategies and the motivations behind that vision - Effective people leader with experience in coaching and career development - Monitor and incorporate industry best practices and innovations in sustainability - Manage multiple vendor relationships ensuring service excellence is delivered - Regular dialogue and project alignment with WW Sustainability and Amazon sustainability teams - Partner with other Amazon departments to integrate sustainability goals into company policies - Create and manage employee engagement campaigns to raise awareness about sustainability initiatives and encourage participation - Partner with Customer Engagement and Experience and Communication teams to Develop internal communications and marketing materials to promote sustainability programs Basic Qualifications - 5 years' experience in travel and/or events sustainability - Strong organizational skills and capacity to prioritize in a complex, fast paced environment - Experience in carbon data reporting and industry specific reporting methodologies - Thorough understanding of business travel and meetings & events operations, supply chain and technology landscape - Ability to work independently without supervision Preferred Qualifications - MBA, or CPA - Knowledge of SQL/ETL - Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan - Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) - Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards) - Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
