People Business Partner (Sec)

Job Purpose:
The central focus of this role is to plan and implement business interventions and projects that deliver Regional People Plans and BGUK MU initiatives. These may be one-off in nature or cyclical and will vary in size and may have short or medium term impacts. This role will at times use diagnosis and root cause analysis to improve the solutions but will be guided in their work.
This role will work across regional boundaries, working within a team that will be mobilised to provide support based on operational needs. This role may be asked to work outside their own business line from time to time and will undertake significant travel, requiring nights spent away from home.
Accountabilities & Activities:
* Implements people activities aligned to the regional, BU and MU plan in conjunction with Partnering team.
* Understands relevant business, customer and regulatory people metrics and data. Diagnoses root causes of underperformance and identifies opportunities to accelerate performance where appropriate. Creates and implements plans in partnership with the business to improve performance.
* Works with other teams (People Operations, Recruitment & Legal) to effectively deliver elements of the People Plan, securing the right expertise and ensuring long-term relationships are maintained.
* Works closely with the L&D team to evolve training solutions to increase leadership capability and customer experience.
* Delivers the Employee Engagement agenda to create an engaged and healthy workforce. Provides advice, guidance and recommendations on key drivers for employee engagement and ensures there is always a robust and active engagement plan.
* Facilitates a culture of learning and continuous growth by coaching and supporting regional leaders to grow themselves, to grow others, and to grow the business.
* Understands the risk and regulatory frameworks within which the business operates. Embeds appropriate people risk and conduct interventions to increase confidence that our people are adhering to mandatory requirements and are fit and proper to undertake their roles.
* Supports execution of cyclical people programmes as required e.g. performance management, Pulse, etc.
* Following a triage process works with Manager Advice on Employee Relations cases and also where issues arise involving self-employed colleagues. This will include but not be limited to leading conduct, grievance or complaint related investigations where required in line with legal and company requirements and supporting managers to have challenging conversations and conduct formal meetings.
* Takes MU processes, frameworks and toolkits and adapts within guidelines for the needs of the business line and focuses on achieving take-up and process adoption.
* Ensures the use of standard project management tools where directed. Runs projects using a project management methodology.
* Provides data and metrics on regional people indicators and projects that they own to quantify achievements.
* Embraces Human Centred Design methodology when approaching their work.
* Seeks continuous improvement after every project implementation and improves own technique and skill accordingly.
* Works within the Delivery Partner team across the MU, sharing tools and learnings and accepting in return.
Experience:
* Generalist HR experience gained within a relevant market and/or industry – exposure to Healthcare/Retail/Hospitality led environments would be hugely beneficial.
* Experience in working in large multisite organisations.
* Experience across a broad range of HR disciplines.
* Successful record of influencing, managing and delivering change in a complex business environment.
* Experience of leading and embedding HR projects which span a large number of employees to agreed benefits.
* Experience of a business partner culture, working closely with business leaders to diagnose business issues/root causes to develop proposals/solutions to achieve objectives.
* Experience of creating and implementing toolkits, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Has successfully worked with people managers and employees to encourage adoption of process and ways of working.
* Evidence of building a strong reputation for personal excellence and delivery in the businesses in which they have worked.
* Evidence of a collaborative approach to developing solutions.
* Familiarity with the pace and agility required to operate successfully alongside senior leaders and the pace of the organisation.
* Experience of managing serious and business critical ER issues to significant levels of complexity.
* Excellent planning and organisational abilities with the capability to manage multiple tasks.
Mandatory Qualifications / Accreditations:
There are no mandatory qualifications for this role. The role holder will preferably need to be CIPD qualified or actively working towards a relevant qualification.

* Supports the interpretation of policies and procedures to ensure rules and policy guidelines are adhered to, managing risk closely to minimise impact.
* Ability to work independently with minimum direction, using initiative and flexibility to make appropriate decisions in order to meet deadlines and manage processes whilst ensuring high quality performance at all times.
