We are currently looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Relief Shop Manager. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our charity shops, which play a vital role in supporting hospice services through fundraising and engagement with the local community. Role Overview The Relief Shop Manager will be responsible for overseeing the management of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, ensuring that the shop runs smoothly and meets its financial goals. The role requires a proactive approach to store management and a passion for working in a retail environment that supports charitable efforts. Location and Salary Location: Various locations across Essex Salary: £23,874 per year Contract: Permanent, Full-time Hours: 37.5 hours a week, including weekends and holidays Key Responsibilities Assist in the daily operation of the shop, including opening and closing procedures. Maximise sales potential by ensuring excellent customer service and presentation standards. Support volunteer recruitment, training, and management to ensure they are motivated and equipped to perform their roles. Maintain accurate financial records, including daily cash handling and banking procedures. Implement marketing and promotional initiatives to increase footfall and sales. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe environment for customers and staff. Coordinate stock management, including sorting, pricing, and displaying donated goods. Skills and Experience Prior experience in a retail environment, charity shop experience is desirable but not essential. Strong organisational skills with an ability to multitask effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with volunteers, customers, and the management team. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team. Proficient in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office. A passion for the charity sector and making a positive impact in the community.
