An exciting opportunity hasarisen for a caring, dedicated, adaptable and self-motivated Qualified DentalTherapist who has excellent personal, communication and clinical skills andworks well within a team environment to join our team across the West &South sector of the Greater Manchester Dental Network in Leigh and Pemberton.
The post holder will provide awide range of clinical dental therapy, oral health promotion and preventativeoral health care including all extended duties appropriate to a registereddental therapist, as requested by dentists within the service. The work will becarried out primarily within clinics but may include domiciliary care. Patientswill include adults and children with additional needs, and patients withlearning and physical disabilities.
A qualification in inhalationsedation is desirable but not essential.
Applicants must be GDCregistered.
Main duties of the job
Maintain high level of clinical work
Work to the prescription of a dental officer and liaise with themin the patient's best interest

Job responsibilities
Provide a full range of extensivetreatments preventative, restorative and surgical in accordance with GeneralDental Council guidelines and current legislation, policies and procedures.
There is a continual requirement toreconsider treatment options as work progresses e.g. a tooth requiring adifferent treatment than was predicted, problems with patient co-operation.
Plan the appropriate order of treatment,implement, interpret / refine as treatment progresses to final discharge.
Discuss specific treatment plans, ifappropriate, analyse patient information and adapt for individual needs.
Use of communication and interpersonalskills to ensure that consent has been obtained, the patient has fullunderstanding of the treatment options and that they understand the role of thedental therapist.
Refer patients to other dentalprofessionals as treatment determines.
Provide information and practical adviceas appropriate for oral health needs of individuals to enable them to improveand maintain good oral health.
Assess, monitor and adapt clinical needsas required to meet needs and capabilities of individual patients. Raiseawareness of patients own responsibility regarding treatment outcome and longterm benefits.
Treat patient groups including childrenand adults and those with multiple complex needs. Understand the needs ofpatients with anxiety and disabilities and carry out their treatmentaccordingly.
Decide how to implement the overalltreatment plan, taking into account the medical and psychological needs of thepatient.
Ensure CPD needs are met by activelyparticipating in the PDR annual review using same as a basis for discussion toidentify training needs
Identify own training needs and how bestto achieve these ensuring Continuing Professional Development is updated andmandatory training is undertaken and recorded.

Experience
* Experience of working as a Dental Therapist in primary dental care for at least one year post qualification
* Experience of working in the Community Dental Service

* Experience of providing care for patients with special needs

* The ability to travel independently across the dental network
* The ability to work flexibly in accordance with service needs
