We’re looking for a creative and passionate expert to manage communications for the International Centre for Evidence in Disability (ICED) at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, based in the central Communications & Engagement team. Day to day work on research projects will be directed by relevant academic principal investigators.
Main activities include developing and implementing communications strategies and campaigns; managing websites; producing and managing social media and digital content; developing policy briefs; producing e-newsletters; writing and designing reports and working closely with our Press Office on media activity. You will have experience of developing and delivering successful communications strategies, and an understanding of how to engage with relevant audiences including government agencies, NGOs, healthcare practitioners, the international research community, academics, postgraduate students, and the general public. Further understanding of the field of disability research and disability inclusive development, rights language and terminology is advantageous.
You should be educated to degree level or equivalent, with substantial relevant experience of working in media and communications within a higher education, global and public health, or science environment. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to coordinate and prioritise a complex workload are essential. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and fixed-term until 28 February 2027. The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,182 - £44,847 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
