What is Churnet Sound Radio?
Churnet Sound Radio is a not-for-profit online radio station, and its brand purpose is to entertain, engage and promote the interests of local communities in the Stoke on Trent, Newcastle, Staffordshire Moorlands and Cheshire East through all platforms to enable us to expand our listeners. We broadcast via the internet, churnetsound.co.uk website, DAB, Alexa and Apps and have social media and Twitter. We broadcast local news, local weather, local events, show biz etc. One of our main aims is to combat social isolation amongst rural communities.
What will I be doing?
1. To operate remote/from within the community/from Studio in Biddulph.
2. The role involves attending local sporting events as press.
3. Writing and preparing reports. Live on-air reporting.
4. Liaising with sports clubs etc. reporting on games or sports events (either in a sports report or live back to studio).
5. Recording interviews with club management etc, update Facebook and website, acting as first point of contact for studio guests (if necessary).
6. Managing phones for phone-ins (if necessary).
7. Any other general studio duties as required.
Skills and experience desired:
Someone with keen interest in local sport. Someone who has interpersonal, social media and IT skills. They must have knowledge on various sports as they will be the face of the Radio Station at the event. They will need to be a confident communicator as they build lasting relationships across sport and across the community. They will be the first line representative for the station at events.
