About the job:
This is a contract role (inside IR35) for a Quantity Surveyor, where you will be integral to managing the commercial and financial aspects of construction projects. Your primary focus will be on civil engineering works, particularly within rail-related projects, where you'll work closely with delivery teams and subcontractors. This role blends hands-on tasks with strategic input, requiring a mix of technical knowledge, commercial acumen, and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Input to efficient management and issuance of accurate, timely notices and correspondence.
Prepare and assess applications, valuations, and cost/value reconciliation.
Control costs and forecasting; provide input to monthly reports (value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow, budget).
Prepare and assess applications for payment or payment certificates.
Assist with Risk and Value Management to optimize solutions and address commercial risks.
Manage contracts, including relevant forms, budget control, and software applications.
Negotiate, administer, and close out supply chain contracts.
Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and customer representatives, maintaining accurate records and meeting documentation.

Requirements:
NEC3 experience.
Hold an RICS/CICES accredited Degree (or equivalent) or enrolled on an accredited part-time post-graduate Degree.
Demonstrable legal, contractual, and construction knowledge.
Experience in managing subcontractors and work packages.
Experience in drafting contractual correspondence, preparing payment certificates, and interim financial reports.
Demonstrable forecasting experience.
Experience contributing to procurement and contract strategies.
Experience of setting up and operating office management systems, including filing systems, document control, and distribution.
Skilled in technical minute-taking at contractual meetings and the ability to collate information and prepare reports.
